Today is Fireworks day!

My dog just like so many other dogs is just very upset and terrified of the sound of fireworks... so my holiday is always spent with trying to calm my dog down, instead of going to the fireworks presentation... Some say you can desensitize your dog to the noises of fireworks, but I had no luck with that! I always end up watching a very noise TV show, with all the blinds shut, so there is no light coming in... petting my dog, and trying to distract her... not an easy task.
Things you can do to be prepared... close the doggie door, and make sure you got the right snacks or treats... that might get a different attention!
And... don't take the dog to the fireworks... they really don't like it!
Happy 4Th.!

I don't even think this is funny! Think about the vet bill they could have had!

Cool Off...In The Pool!

It's Hot here! We live in the desert... Lucy, my golden and I love to go in the pool.
Lucy is an old lady, so she prefers laying on the top step... it gives me a perfect situation, to take care of her a bit...
She likes massages... as so many other dogs, she has trouble with her back, so the warm water and the soothing massages work wonders.
Do you have fun with your pooch in the water...?

Hot,Hot,Hot!!!

It's finally summer... we all enjoy the sun, a great relief of the cold and the rain... It's great weather to take our dog for a walk! Here are a few things to think about.
1. Check if the pavement is not too hot... take off your own shoe and check it out... if it's too hot for you... it's too hot for your dog!
2. Going for long walks... is your dog in good enough shape to tag along for the entire trip!?
3. Water... are you bringing enough water for you AND your dog! What about a treat...
physical activity makes everyone hungry!
4. Are you a dog owner that think riding the bike and having your dog run beside you is a good idea... well maybe check out the temperature first... when it's close to 80 degrees or above it is NOT a good idea! Dogs can get a heatstroke!
If you know about any other things to watch out for, feel free to post!
Go.... walk that Dog!

Prevent or Spend!!!

I read about a year ago that someone spent about $10,000 on their Jack Russell. He was only 6 years old, but a few symptoms made it very clear that the dog was getting sick. He was drinking a lot of water, urinated more, had weight loss and was lethargic. According to Dr Jon (at Petplace. com)these were signs of Diabetes.
Vet costs can add up quickly, so let's be intuitive to our pooches behavior... you can save a lot of money!
Well... Go Walk That Dog!
